I SAID YES TO THE DRESS AT CHANTILLY COUTURE!!!

Shopping for my wedding gown was so surreal! Some girls look forward to their wedding day and other girls obsess over it their whole life - I am one who has OBSESSED over it my whole life!! I love fairytails, I love weddings, I love love!! I have dreamed of picking out the perfect wedding dress my entire life! I thought about how it wout feel to try them on, who would go with me, which silhouette to go with, and every little small detail about the experience. Let me tell you, it was everything I dreamed it would be!

Where did you find your dress?

I found my gown at Chantilly Couture Bridal Shop in Oklahoma City. They have the most breathtaking selection of gowns! Everyone there was so nice and helpful! Chelsea was my stylist and she was incredible! Chantilly made me feel like royalty from the moment I arrived! They truly made my experience so special!

Who did you bring along?

I have always envisioned bringing my bridal party, Patrick's mom, and my mom! However, five of my eight bridesmaids live out of town so that wasn't really practicle. Currently, due to Covid 19, the shop is only allowing 4 guests to attend with the bride.. which worked out perfectly! I brought my Matron of Honor, Maid of Honor, and my mother. Patrick's mom planned to come as well but unfortunately she was exposed to someone who had Covid and we did not want to risk it. I sent her pictures and she loved the gown I chose!

How many dresses did you try on?

I tried on about 10 gowns or so. The gown I picked was actually the first gown I picked out in the store and the first one that I tried on. We all loved it the moment I stepped out in it and as much as we loved the other gowns, they just didnt compare to the first one!

How far out should you buy your gown?

I would suggest giving yourself plenty of time, aleast 6-9 months! After trying on the sample in the shop, they took my measurements and I placed the order for the gown in my size. I ordered in August and my dress should arrive around December or January. Once it arrives, I will have to send it off for alterations. It is a process and you want to give yourself enough time so that there is no stress. Also, alterations will charge extra fees for "rush" orders.

Do you have to make an appointment?

Yes! Chantilly stays booked with back to back appointments so you will need to book a fitting room in advance.

Any tips or advice?

I would suggest going in with an open mind! You may end up falling in love with a dress that is nothing like you envisioned. Also, everyones body is shaped differently- the dress you see on the rack or on a model will transform and look completely different on your body! My stylist reccomended that I try on all different sillhouettes and styles and I am so glad I did! Also, I liked having a small entourage with me because too many opinions can get overwhelming. I do not suggest trying on a gown outside of your budget- you will fall in love with it! The dress I chose was the most expensive gown that I tried on. If you're having trouble deciding between two dresses, I would say put a veil on or some accessories and step into a different space to get a fresh viewpoint! When I put my veil on with my dress and we walked to a different part of the shop with different lighting, I knew 100% that it was the one! Do not settle! Do not make your decision based off of what others want! Dont rush your decision! You only get one wedding day and it is only about you and your partner! Pick the gown that makes you feel beautiful and vibrant!

What are some current trends?

While the classics will never go out of style... there are a lot of fun and beautiful wedding gown trends right now. I had my stylist, Chelsea, give me some info on all the current trends! Crepe is super popular right now! It is a very clean, minimal fabric where the design elements such as unique necklines, underarm cutouts, sleeve option, buttons down the back, etc. come to play. The styles are very versitile. They can go from classic and traditional to fun and funky. Necklines that are gaining popularity are the square and scoop necks and also straight across with v cut outs. Detachable details like sleeves, trains, veil wings and capes are in and so fun! There are a lot of gowns comng in now with sparkley tulle for the brides that want extra sparkle! Big statement headbands, bows, and lots of gold and pearls and other non traditional accessories are very popular!
