WE'RE ENGAGED!| Proposal Details

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!! Still on cloud 9 after saying the easiest YES in my life to the man of my dreams! Patrick is everything I have ever prayed for and more. We are so excited to spend forever together!

Y'all had tons of questions about our proposal and engagement party! I wanted to touch on all of those in a blog post- so here we are! Lets dive in!

ABOUT US

How did y'all meet?

Patrick and I were introduced by our friends. My best friend, Kortnei, had known Patrick for years and at the time Pat was in the Fire Academy with Kortnei's fiance, David. I still laugh thinking about the very first time Kort tried to tell me about Patrick... I was drowning in a puddle of tears as my previous relationship had just ended and she said "Okay, you need to meet this guy Pat". I was like "Who in the world is Pat? I don't think this is really the time to be worried about someone new" and then she showed me a picture of him and I said "OH WAIT HE'S CUTE!" So naturally, I went and followed him on insta- duh! Weeks went by and I never thought of it again. Kort and I were out with friends one night to see a local musician and her fiance, David, looked over and said "Hey Madelynn, Pat is on his way!". I looked at him confused not knowing who he was talking about and Kort quickly reminded me that it was the handsome guy she had been telling me about. He came that night- we talked for a while and hit it off! The next weekend we went on our first date and were inseperable ever since! I was not looking for a relationship when God brought Patrick into my life but God's timing is perfect.

How old are y'all?

I am 27. Patrick is 33.

How long have you been together?

We have been together for 1 year and 3 months! This is the perfect amount of time for us. I think some people date for 10 years and some people date for 3 months and know that they have found the one, every relationship is different. It depends on where you are in life and so many other factors that play a role in knowing you are ready to make that commitment.

THE PROPOSAL

How did he ask?

My best friend, Selina, had gotten engaged the week before ( so excited for them!!!!!) and Patrick had to miss their engagement party because he was working. I had the idea that we should take them to a nice dinner to celebrate since he missed it and he said "Yes, lets go friday!". So I got with Selina and she suggested a dinner spot and said she would call and make reservations- so that was the plan. Friday morning Selina called me and said that our reservations weren't until 8:30 and asked if we wanted to meet at Social Capital (right next to Scissortail Park) for a drink beforehand around 7:00. So Pat and I are pulling in to park and Selina's fiance, Anthony, calls Patrick and says there over at the other side of the park because they ran into Selina's brother. So Patrick is telling me we need to walk over to the other side of the park and I'm like ummmmm WHY? It's hot, I'm in these platform shoes, why can't we just go to Social Capital and they can meet us over here? LOL He said "No, just come on!" So we are walking through the park and when we get over the bridge he hands me his phone and said "Hey babe, watch this video." That morning he had pre recorded a video of himself pulling out the ring and saying he was so excited for the day because he was going to ask me to marry him. Right about the time the video ended we had walked up on the beutiful proposal site that my mom and two best friends had helped Pat set up in Scissortail Park. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE.

My talented friend Ashley was there to capture beautiful photos of our special moment! My two best friends and their fiances were also there as they had set everything up for us! We took some photos and then went over to the Parlor to celebrate with friends and family as Patrick had planned an enagement party for us!

Did you know it was happening?

I knew it was happening this year, but I did not know when and was definitely surprised that day! On January 1st of this year , Patrick and I wrote down our goals for the year as it is a tradition of mine. I finished writing my goals and read them to Pat and then I started cooking black eyed peas and cabbage for good luck! Patrick finished up his goals as I was cooking and I asked him to read them to me. He said "I already put them up" and I said "Well go get them! I read you mine! I want to know yours!" So he got the list and starts reading it to me and he got to number 8 on the list and said "BUY A RING" so calm and casually then goes on to number 9 and keeps reading. I said "Wait hold on WHAT? Go back to number 8!! A RING??" He said "Yeah, I plan to buy you a ring and propose this year!" I almost passed out. ( with excitement) So that began the talk of us getting married and all.

Did he pick out the ring?

Yes! I had shown Patrick some photos of what I like. I also gave my best friends details that I liked because I knew he would go to them for help. He knew I wanted yellow gold, and an oval center stone. But the ring he picked is far more beautiful and perfect than anything I could ever dream up! I love it so much! Ring details: The ring is yellow gold. Oval cut center stone with 10 little diamonds on each side and an under-halo consisting of 10 diamonds.

The Engagement Party

Our engagement party was such a dream! All of our friends and family were their waiting to congratulate us! Patrick had the help of my amazing mother and my two best friends to plan everything! Our party was at the Parlor in OKC. They were so sweet and even gifted us a bottle of champagne to celebrate! We had such great service all night. My mom set up the gorgeous tables! Pop-of-Pay did the cutest balloon display which was perfect for photos throughout the night. We had the most delicious cake from OKCsweets -so many compliments on this cake from everyone! We also had the most beautiful specialty cookies that I have ever seen in my life from FlourCookies! Every single detail was so special and so perfect! I wish I could go back and re-live this night over and over!

WEDDING PLANS

We will be getting married in April, 2021. Our wedding will be in the OKC metro area! We are using Forever Borrowed as our planner + florist and I cannot reccomend them enough!
